Designed to educate consumers and communities on the importance and ease of battery recycling, Call2Recycle® and Mayor Mike McGinn have designated Thursday, June 28, as [Download not found]. Area residents and organizations are encouraged to scour their attics, junk drawers, and desks, and bring their rechargeable batteries to the Seattle Center International Fountain for a chance to be rewarded with prizes in addition to doing their part for the environment.
Events scheduled for the day:
Collection Drive: 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. Call2Recycle’s battery truck will be on-hand to collect rechargeable batteries. Prizes will be awarded for bringing rechargeable batteries and cellphones to be recycled.
Meet Senator Sharon Nelson (10:15 – 11:15) and Representative Steve Tharinger (12:30 p.m. – 1:30 p.m.): Local area officials** will be receiving commendations from Call2Recycle for their commitment to help raise battery recycling awareness in their communities and the state.
Meet KJR Radio Personality: Noon – 2:00 p.m.DJ Jodi Brothers will be broadcasting live from the collection event and giving away prizes. At 2:00 there will be a random drawing for $500, but you must be present to win.
Mariner’s Autograph Session: 12:30 p.m. – 1:30 p.m. Seattle Mariner, Michael Saunders*, will be signing autographs and helping fans recycle their batteries.
This is an opportunity for companies, associations and other organizations around Seattle to gather rechargeable batteries from all over their communities. Then on June 28, they can bring the batteries to Seattle Center to show their commitment to the environment.
